Honey bee swarms are a natural part of a colony’s reproduction process. When a hive becomes crowded, about half of the bees leave with the old queen and temporarily cluster on a tree branch, fence, or structure while scout bees search for a new home.
At Sweet Bees, we safely collect swarms and relocate them to our managed apiaries where they can continue pollinating and producing honey.
What to know about swarms:
• Swarms are usually very gentle, but can become aggressive if provoked
• They are temporary and looking for a new home
• Swarms typically cluster on trees, fences, bushes, or buildings
• Removal helps prevent bees from moving into walls or structures
If you see a swarm, contact us for safe and humane relocation.

Sometimes honey bees move into walls, roofs, sheds, or other structures and begin building comb inside. When this happens, the colony and honeycomb must be physically removed from the structure, which is called a cut-out.
We carefully:
• Open the structure where the bees are located
• Remove the bees, comb, brood, and honey
• Relocate the colony into a hive box
• Help prevent the bees from returning
Proper removal is important because leaving honeycomb inside a wall can attract pests, cause drywall damage and Attract bees to colonize the same space in the future.

Contact Sweet Bees if you notice:
• A large cluster of bees hanging together
• Bees entering and exiting a hole in a wall or roof
• Bees building comb inside a structure
• A swarm on your property
We prioritize live bee removal whenever possible

Swarm collection
Swarm collections are free. Our goal is to relocate honey bee swarms into our managed apiaries where they can continue pollinating and producing honey.
Cut-Outs (Structural Hive Removal)
Cut-outs require a consultation to evaluate the location and difficulty of the hive.
• Costs will vary depending on accessibility, structure type, colony size, height, and time required.
Every removal is unique, and an estimate can usually be provided after reviewing photos or inspecting the site
